| Frame/Structures: The main structure of the frame is complete! The rolling frame is also finished, about one week after our original scheduled deadline. We allowed four weeks to build the drive train and controls, which should take at most three since much of the work is already started. We should have the HPV completely operational (minus the fairing) on or before the first weekend of March. . Fairing: No progress was made this week. Several new ideas were developed for constructing the fairing, which will be talked about at the next several meetings to decide on the specific methods we want to use. A full fairing is possible and is our goal. At this point, the seats and drive train need to be assembled to verify clearances for the riders before any plans are finalized. Drive Train: The wheels are in place. The central hub for the drive train needs to be installed. A part needs to be ordered before the hub can be finished. Routing the chain and installing chain guides can begin next weekend. Controls: The front steering and handlebar is nearing completion. The central part of the handlebar is complete and the tie rods are almost done. We found out we don't have a left hand tap, so we will have to buy a tap before the tie rods can be finished. Once the hole is tapped, it can be bolted together. |
