| Frame/Structures: The roll bar and rear handlebars were built on Friday night. All structural parts are completed, and all of the main metal fabrication is compete. The only metal work remaining is for mounting the fairing with tabs and other minor projects. The fiberglass roll bar from last week was found to be too heavy compared to the steel design once the epoxy was applied. Fairing: The foam core for the nose cone is glued together and ready to be shaped. A few sample Coroplast pieces were bent for practice with good results. On one of the samples, body filler was tested to see how well it bonds to the plastic and how smooth we can make the finish. Drive Train: The initial rollerblade wheels were replaced with more expensive, higher quality parts. These were mounted and are a definite improvement. The rear wide roller is in place but still requires purchasing the proper bolt before we can ride the HPV. Controls: The controls are still not in place, but they will be worked on during the week and should be finished before next Friday. |
