This will be the
last update before the competition. The HPV is almost complete
and is very fun to drive!
Competition Information Fairing: The mold is finished and the layer of fiberglass we will use on the car has been placed over the mold. We are waiting for it to harden. Seats: New slider parts were welded onto the seat brackets. A different locking system is used. It is very simple and works great. Seat belts were added Controls: All controls work. The rear derailleur has been repositioned and adjusted to shift better. Drive Train: The chains and sprockets are all in place, and the drive train works. Tensioners throughout the driveline need to be installed, and small adjustments made, to keep all the chains on the sprockets. We are experimenting with gearing to optimize performance during the race. Riding Video (980KB) The HPV with drive train installed. The seats are removed for modifications. New derailleur installed. Our new chain tensioner! This was a quick fix so we could test other components (and have some fun riding). Seat with seat belt attached. Notice the handlebars and shifter control. New seat mounts. The two T-handle bolts are used to lock the seat against the frame rail. Detailed view of the brakes and derailleur. Greg changing the gearing. New tie rod ends. The new design is more adjustable and stronger. ©2006 Jeff Bartels 5/01/2006 |
