JEAN THOMAS, soprano, earned the B.A. degree in music from St. Olaf College and, as a fellowship recipient, received the M.M. degree in voice from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has done extensive solo performances with various chamber ensembles and orchestras throughout the Midwest.
Jean is the vocal soloist with ISU's acclaimed early music ensemble, Musica Antiqua. She has studied early music style with Thomas Binkeley and Andrea von Ramm. Jean often has presented lecture-demonstrations on early music style and ornamentation, and on early vocal pedagogy.
While studying voice and Italian operatic style in Italy with Antonio Moretti-Pananti and Anastasia Tomashewzha, she was a featured soloist on Italian National Television.
A developing special interest of Jean's is the teaching of "belt voice" for music theater.
Jean teaches studio voice and voice class at Iowa State.
