The Canterbury Tales Rewrite

  • Overview
    This assignment was given to my World Literature students during my student teaching. The students had just read The Wife of Bath, The Miller's Tale, and a brief selection from the Prologue. They will take their knowledge of Geoffrey Chaucer and rewrite a present day Prologue. They will come up with new characters, personalities, and occupations. They will be required to pick a new destination for their travelers.
  • Reflection
    The students had a great time with this assignment. Even though they were given requirements for this assignment, they were still given the freedom to choose many aspects of the assignment. They were able to come up with new and exciting characters and a destination where they would like to go. They were able to take a very old story and apply it to their lives. I think it helped them realize that The Canterbury Tales can still have meaning in our lives today.
