The Student Chapter of SAE

Cabinet
A cabinet, comprised of multidisciplinary student members from both the Formula and Baja teams, makes decisions pertaining to all SAE members at Iowa State.  Members of the cabinet typically have at least 1 year of experience with SAE and are elected each year by members from both teams.  Just as membership with a particular SAE team can give a student the experience he/she needs to succeed, membership on the cabinet shows a particular commitment and drive necessary to keep SAE at Iowa State continually moving forward.

The 2000 Baja and Formula Car

Campus Events

Throughout the school year, SAE attends many campus events. Both the Baja and Formula car attend these events, accompanied by knowledgeable team members ready to facilitate any questions about the cars.  The car’s presence at these events not only intrigues passersby, but also generates conversation and helps stimulate discussion about new and exciting possibilities for each car. The VEISHA Parade, SWE Haunted House, and numerous membership drives throughout the year are just a few examples of how SAE approaches new member recruitment and increased awareness for the Organization.

Experience for a Professional Career
The experience gained from involvement with SAE is unmatched.  Opportunities in SAE vary anywhere from financial planning to hands-on mechanical experience gained when building the final design, and everything in between.  The design and construction of the cars are aided by a multitude of people and organizations, including students, faculty, and industry professionals.  It is truly a team effort.  The ability to work effectively in teams has never been more important than it is today, and nowhere is this more evident than in SAE.
