Program (CIRP) Freshman Survey

Overview

The CIRP survey instrument seeks to collect a wide range of data on demographic characteristics, background experiences, educational aspirations, family background, personal values and goals, current views on political and social issues, and expectations about college. The Annual CIRP Survey of Entering Freshmen is administered through the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), with additional sponsorship by the American Council on Education(ACE) and the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies in UCLA. At Iowa State University, entering freshmen were surveyed during the summer freshman orientation period.

In the summary of the CIRP survey results, Iowa State University is compared with national norms and data are tabulated separately for males, females, and the total. One national norm is based on all public universites and another based on "high selectivity" public universities.
