A Post-Doctoral Research Associate Position in the field of experimental aerodynamics and fluid mechanics is available immediately at the Advanced Flow Diagnostics and Experimental Aerodynamics Laboratory of Department of Aerospace Engineering, Iowa State University.
The position will involve in conducting fundamental studies related to renewable energy such as wind turbine technology and algae production engineering, and bio-inspired aerodynamics design for micro-air-vehicle (MAV) applications, supervision and collaboration with graduate and undergraduate students, and preparation of technical reports and papers. The appointment is for one year, and renewable for additional years subject to performance.
Please send a cover letter addressing how you meet following requirements: An experimental fluid mechanics background and strong publication record in one or more of the following areas: vortex flows, multi-phase flows, turbulence, low-Reynolds-number airfoil aerodynamics, spray flow and atomization, laminar boundary flow transition and separation and its flow control. Hands-on experiences of using laser-based flow diagnostic techniques such as PIV, and LIF are highly desirable. Strong communication and language skills, as evidenced by publications and the cover letter are required. A current C.V. with the minimum following information/sections is required: Educational background, degree dates, GPA with scale, name of advisor; Relevant work experience; Honors and awards; Invited presentations; Peer-Reviewed Publications; Non-peer-reviewed Publications; Talks and Poster Presentations; and names and contact information of at least two professional references.
