My piano teacher

"OK! You will be my student," said Yi-Juan after listening to my piano playing sixteen years ago. We have been good friends since Yi-Juan accepted me to be her piano student. During the training of playing piano, I knew more about her day after day. I learned many things from her, not only the skills of playing piano, but also the principle of being a good person. She plays an important role in my life, so she is one whom I admire. There are three reasons why I admire Yi-Juan: Her personality, her great wisdom, and her effects on me.

First of all, Yi-Juan's likeable personality is one reason why I admire her. For example, she is always kind to everyone whom she meets. When I met her at first, her attitude to me and her smile let me feel easy and very comfortable. Sometimes I went shopping with her, and she was also kind to people whom she didn't know. Some people who have talked with her told me that they felt very comfortable and wanted to talk with her more when they met each other. Moreover, Yi-Juan is always full of energy. She told me if she is always full of energy every day, each day will become better even if she suddenly gets some trouble. That is why she looks always full of energy. Because of her energy, I seemed to get some energy from her after we met.

In addition, although Yi-Juan is just my piano teacher, I found she has much wisdom. For instance, she has general medical sense. I remember one day after the piano class, she told me how to cure a disease of the nervous system. She used many proper nouns about medical science to me, so I was very surprised. Moreover, she knows much about religion. She has collected many books about religion, so she could get some ideas from them. Yi-Juan has many friends, and they have different religious beliefs. When she wanted to know about her friends' religious beliefs more, she could just call them and get the answers. Sometimes Yi-Juan and I talked about religion, so I knew that she really knows much about religion. Furthermore, she has rich ideas. When I had some problems, I usually told her, and she always could give me good ideas for my question.

Finally, Yi-Juan's effects on me is the last and important reason why I admire her. For example, she usually encouraged me to do what I'm interested in, so I participated in many associations when I studied in high school and university. Moreover, she had confidence in my ability to pass all tests I needed to take. "Just do your best, and then you will get the best result," said Yi-Juan. Because of her, I usually took tests with confidence. In addition, she improved my skills of playing piano, and let me have a firm foundation of playing skills. Because of that, I still can play basic music without reading scores now. She taught me not only the skills of playing piano, but also the principle of being a good person. Her thought effects me very much, and I think that is very useful for my life.

In summary, Yi-Juan's likeable personality usually let people feel very comfortable. Moreover, she has much wisdom. Finally, her thought affects me very much, and I think that is very useful for me. For all of the reasons I wrote above, Yi-Juan is a person whom I admire.

Oxford

Oxford is like London; it's international, it's very old, and has great charm. It's also a town that grew up near the river Thames.

We can hear international talk around, because many people from many parts of the world come to study at Oxford University. There are twenty seven men's colleges and five women's colleges that make up the University.

Oxford is old and historical. The University was established in 1299, so we can touch ancient buildings and just guess about events in ancient times there.

We can see the charm of Oxford in the green fields and parks that surround the city, and we can see it in the lawns and gardens that surround the colleges. We can see the charm of Oxford in the river Thames and its streams that pass near the city. We can smell the fresh air of the river and the scent of flowers and herbs.

I think the University is ideally placed and it's just wonderful to be away from noise and modern destruction. Oxford is truly a city for lovers of study and hard workers. It's a very ancient and spiritual place for gaining knowledge. I am sure they have the most creative, talented and highly qualified teachers, who are supported, of course, by the very latest teaching aids. Probably, you will enjoy the lovely, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for learning. I would be proud to be a student of Oxford University.
