Honors Student in the News - Jessica Shin

Iowa State women's golfer Jessica Shin was named to the 2005-06 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Academic All-America team, announced today by the NGCA. Athletes must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and competed in at least 50 percent of the school's scheduled competitive rounds to be eligible.

Shin, who just finished her sophomore season, posted the third-best stroke average on the Cyclone squad in 2005-06 at 79.30. A native of Mankato, Minn., Shin became the first Cyclone to place in the top 10 in the 10-year history of the Women's Big 12 Championship last year, carding a 229 to earn all-tournament honors. Her second-round 70 at the Big 12 Championship was a career low and is the lowest score ever by a Cyclone individual at the Big 12 Championship.

Shin has a 3.97 cumulative GPA in biology.
