Edited Collections of Essays
This archive features citations for 1,311 essays contained in 71 edited books suggested by Dr. Janice Lauer of Purdue University. Shortly after I began this database project, Dr. Lauer contacted me about her desire for a database of edited collections, which to her knowledge were not catalogued by any library or database service. This request was motivated by her concern that scholars in our field were losing ready access to these collections, which represent some of our most important contributions to rhetorical scholarship.
This archive represents only the first installment of essays from Dr. Lauer's collection of edited works, and next year, we will be adding an additional 90 or so books to the collection. At that point, the database will undoubtedly become too unweildy for one single file and will be split into two files according to decade of publication.
I want to personally thank Dr. Lauer for her contributions to this collection, as I believe these works indeed represent some of our field's best scholarship. Compiling this database has helped me with my own doctoral research, and I trust it will serve as a useful research tool for other scholars in our field.
