Due Date: Tuesday, December 12th
This final assignment can be on any topic you choose, as long as it is related to technological support of professional work groups.
There are numerous topics that we have touched on during the semester, so I don't anticipate your having a difficult time coming up with a topic. However, if you want some help brainstorming your topic or merely feedback on a topic you're considering, then please see me, and I'll be glad to help you out as best I can.
An example topic might include exploration of how a specific technology, such as videoconferencing, is being implemented in professional work settings. For this topic, you might research the history of videoconferencing, what technology is necessary to establish videoconferencing connections, what social issues are involved in use of the technology, and what future prospects are for its widespread implementation in corporate work settings.
However, your topic doesn't have to be quite so technology-focused. You might, for example, want to discuss in detail a long-standing problem within group work and how this problem might best be addressed by non-technological means. Still, you would need to discuss why technological measures have failed to correct this problem in the past and why, perhaps, the problem is beyond a technological fix.
These sample topics are somewhat vague, I know, but I want to leave room for you to develop topics that meet your own personal research needs and interests. Such a topic may not come to you until late in the semester, though others may find an immediate topic of interest. All I ask is that it be a topic in which you're interested.
The paper itself should be 10-15 pages in length, well organized and researched, and well formatted, with section headers to lead your readers through the text.
As with the other assignments, please contact me if you should have any questions.
