Due Date: Thursday, September 14th
Most of you have probably completed a similar assignment in another class, so I don't expect you to have any problems with this one. Your task is to choose a somewhat narrowly defined subtopic related to groups and their technological support and then locate 10 articles or other scholarly forms. If you have any problems selecting a topic, please let me know, and I'll try to suggest one that suits your interests.
Be sure to annotate these sources in order to give your readers a quick summary of what issues the author addresses. Your audience for these annotations is other students in this class.
The goal of this assignment, of course, is to familiarize yourself with the literature on groups or groupware technology so that you might begin thinking about research topics for your final papers.
But a secondary goal is that you gain some experience in using bibliographic database technology to organize and annotate your research. During the first week of class, I will be demonstrating the EndNote bibliographic database program, which is used by thousands of professors and researchers all of the world to collect and organize their sources of information. See the File Downloads page for more information about EndNote.
Printed copies of this bibliography should adhere to APA style. In addition to a printed copy, I would also like you to submit an EndNote version of your annotations to me using an email attachment. If you have no experience using email attachments, or experience any problems, please let me know. When all files are submitted, I will combine individual entries into a class bibliography and post it on our web site for anyone to download.
