Students majoring in Political Science and seeking teacher
certification in
History/Social Studies must meet the following content and methodology
requirements:
Complete an
endorsement in American Government
- Take POL S 215 and 12 credits from: 241,

306, 310, 319, 320, 344, 357, 358, 359, 360, 361, 364, 371, 381, 385,
406, 410,
413,
420, 421, 430, 431, 433, 453, 464.
- Political
Science course descriptions.
Complete
an endorsement/minor in
either American or World History:
American
History:
- Take HIST 221 & one
U.S. pre-1870: 355, 356, 450,451, 460. 461, or 465..
- Take HIST 222 & one
U.S. post-1870: 360, 361, 391, 460, 461, or 465.
- Take one U.S. topical: 307, 353,
354, 365, 366, 380, 386, 389, 396B, 456, 472, 473, 488, 489, or 496B.
- History
course descriptions.
World
History:
- Take HIST 201 & one
pre-1500:
304, 305, 316, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, or 421.
- Take HIST 202 or 207 & one
post-1500: 318, 321, 323, 325, 383, 388, 390, 408, 419, 420, 422,
424, 427, 428, 429, or 431.
- Take one from
Non-Europe: 336, 337, 338, 339, 340, 341, 474, or 479.
- History

Complete all
remaining History and Social Sciences core requirements.
Complete all
remaining University Teacher Education Program requirements.
Complete any and
all remaining requirements for a degree in Political Science.
In addition,
students pursuing teacher certification must:
- Earn a grade of B- or above in all History/Social
Sciences content courses
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point
average
- Maintain a minimum 2.75 grade point average in content
courses
