Requirements for History Majors
Students majoring in History and seeking teacher licensure in
History/Social Studies must meet the following content requirements:
Complete an
endorsement in American History:
- Take HIST 221 and 222.
- Take at least 9 additional credits of approved U.S.
History
from: 307, 351, 352, 353, 354, 355, 356, 360, 361, 386,
391(X),
450, 451, 462, 463, 464, 465, 466. Other courses that
apply: 240, 345, 365, 366, 370, 380, 389, 453, 456, 461, 468,
469, 470, 471, 472, 473, 488, 489.
- It is recommended that students take a mix of courses
covering both Pre-1870 and Post-1870 U.S. History. History
course
descriptions.
Complete an
endorsement in World History:
- Take HIST 201 and 202.
- Take at least 9 additional credits of approved World
History from: 304, 305, 325, 336, 337, 338, 340, 341, 402, 403, 404,
405, 406, 408, 419, 420(X), 421, 422, 424, 425, 431, 441, 474, 479.
