2004 Effigy Mounds National Monument: Youth Conservation Corps
At 16, I spent my summer working on an eight member teen conservation crew at Effigy Mounds, about 10 minutes south of my hometown. We restored and maintained walking trails and landscaped trail surroundings, constructed an erosion control drainage ditch, and constructed an exhibit for the American Indian Cultural Demonstration Program.

2007 Camp Ehawee: Discover, Connect, Take Action
At 19, the summer after my second year in college, I decided to work at a summer camp. I was hired at Camp Ehawee, a camp that I had attended since I was in elementary school, and that my mother and her sisters had attended when they were in grade school as well. I was the Waterfront Assistant: lifeguarding, instructing canoe sessions, and counseling.
