Abstract:
Fields where Henslow's sparrows were detected in roadsides surveys in southern Iowa were mapped.
Purpose:
Henslow's sparrows declined from the mid-1960s to the 1990s, but the rate of decline cannot be estimated from the North American Breeding Birds survey. A better survey would probably be concentrated in regions where the species is most abundant. These data indicate where, in Iowa, the species is most frequently encountered.
