Job Objective
- To work during the next year in an environment where I can merge my interests in engineering and computers and use my leadership skills to help the group I am working with to succeed.
Education
- Currently a senior student (90 credits completed) at Iowa State University, working towards a B.S. Degree in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Economics with anticipated graduation in Spring 2010.
- Current College GPA: 2.93/4.00
- Studied at Brunel University in London, England during the summer of 2008 through the Iowa State Engineering Study-Abroad program.
- Graduated with honors from Totino-Grace High School, Fridley, MN, June 2006.
- Participated in the University of Minnesota Talented Youth Mathematics Program (UMTYMP) prior to high school.
Work and Research Experience
- Working as the Director of Information Technology for the ISU Student Government this year.
- Worked with the Precollegiate Programs department of the Iowa State University College of Engineering under Camille Schroeder from May 2007 to May 2008.
- Worked on planning and execution of a series of summer day-camps for children aged 5-14 during summer of 2007.
- Worked on planning for the FIRST Lego League competition held at Iowa State.
- Worked on the introduction of Project Lead the Way classes for teachers at Iowa State (project designed to give teachers engineering curriculum to add to their existing science classes for 5th-12th grade).
- Assisted in various community outreach events.
- Assisted in research into computer vision with the Virtual Reality Applications Center and the Center for Transportation Research and Engineering with Dr. Derrick Parkhurst and graduate student Hillary Isebrands during the spring and summer of 2007.
Activities and Interests
- Currently the president (formerly the treasurer) of the Iowa State Space Society (ISSS).
- Acting as liaison to the Government of the Student Body (our funding group).
- Assisted as a member of the Iowa State Space Society in the construction of an all fiberglass / carbon fiber dart projectile rocket project (projected flight to 25,000+ ft.).
- Currently helping to lead a joint ISSS / SSCL project to build a rocket-balloon combination capable of launching a small payload to greater than 100,000 ft.
- Currently a member of the Aerospace Engineering Leadership Council representing the Iowa State Space Society.
- Joined the '07 and '08 Iowa Lego League State Championship planning committees.
- Currently the Webmaster for the Iowa State AIAA chapter.
- Organized winning Kaleidoquiz 2008 26-hour quiz team (event hosted by campus radio station).
- Member of the Iowa State Mountaineering Club, and Lego Club.
- Volunteered for “Habitat for Humanity” for the past 5 years.
- Organized drum line activities during high school and voluntarily played drums for junior high students at church on Wednesday nights during high school.
- Competed on multiple sports teams in high school (soccer, track, cross-country) and inter mural sports teams in college (ultimate frisbee, football, soccer, broomball, swimming).
- Have invested in and done research on stocks since 2002 as a hobby.
