Invited by Michigan State University (MSU) to give my opinions and recommendations regarding MSUs plans for high performance computing to: (a) the Vice Provost of Libraries, Computing and Technology, (b) the Assistant VP for Research and Graduate Studies along with other members of their Cyber-Enabled Research Initiative, (c) the Director of MSUs High Performance Computing Center and (d) the Dean and Associate Dean of Engineering. Invited for an 18 day visit by the University of Helsinki, Finland (one of the top 20 universities in Europe) to give a series of lectures and a short course in high performance computing. The University of Helsinki paid travel and living expenses and gave an honorarium. September 2008.

He has been a member of the Parallel Tools (Ptools) Consortium's Steering Committee from 1997 to 2004, the year the consortium disbanded.
In 2000, he was Program Chair for the Ptools annual conference and is the Conference Chair for the Ptools 2001 Conference. He has been the Ptools treasurer from 2001 through 2004.
In 1998, he gave a series of invited lectures on high performance computing at the University of Pavia in Italy.
In 1998, he was invited to collaborate on a research project for NEC in their research laboratory in Sankt Augustin, Germany.
From 1990-1996, Professor Luecke was a member (and chair for one year) of an IBM Technical Advisory Committee that reviewed IBM's research and development plans.
From 1994-1997, he was a member of the Executive Advisory Committee for the Cornell National Supercomputing Facility.
