Short Bio
Guanqun Yang is currently a PhD candidate at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, USA. His current research mainly focuses on coverage, connectivity and applications in wireless sensor networks. Before coming to USA, he was an undergraduate research assistant (from 2003 to 2005) in Iflytek speech processing laboratory, which is partially supported by Anhui USTC iFLYTEK Co., Ltd. During that period, he was working on the technologies of speech and speaker recognition. In the summer of 2004, he had developed a digital-string-based speaker identification demo system on the desktop windows platform using VC++. He received his B.S. degree in 2005 from the Electrical Engineering and Information Science Department in University of Science and Technology of China. In the National College Entrance Exam of year 2001, his overall score was the 2nd highest in his city (about 20000 examinates). In the high school, he joined the training camps for National Olympic Competitions on Physics and Mathematics, and won the 3rd grade prizes on both of them.
