OBJECTIVES:
This course is designed to help develop and understand computer-generated, digital multimedia works, of the type that are published on CD-ROM or over the Internet. It emphasizes concepts and principles for evaluating multimedia projects and also for their design and construction in order to achieve communication objectives.

STRATEGY:
Integrated lecture and hands-on instruction. This is an outcomes based course and you will be evaluated primarily on your ability to transfer the theory and knowledge shared in class into workable projects.

SOFTWARE COMPETENCY:
This course will make extensive use of HTML, Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Illustrator. It will explore the use of such multimedia authoring tools as Director and Premiere and the animation program LogoMotion. While we will cover basic operation of these programs, some familiarity with these programs is advisable.

TEXT:
There is no required text for this course. There will be reserve readings available. Most of the resources you need will be available on-line from a variety of sources listed in the courese outline as we proceed. Many students, however, do find it useful to have a book that outlines basic HTML code and programming. There are many books available and you may choose one that fits your interests, style and budget.

GRADING:
Grades will be based on class projects and class attendance/participation.Final grades will be based on the plus/minus system. Distribution is as follows: Projects: 60%; Exams: 25%; Attendance and participation:15%.

Plagiarism (literary or artistic theft), copying someone else's work or other forms of dishonesty will not be tolerated. Any case of academic dishonesty will be considered grounds for an automatic failing grade in the course.
