Mission

Our mission is to protect the natural beauty of the Paramo, to conduct long-term research on natural systems as part of a global effort to understand and preserve the Earth's biodiversity, and to increase appreciation of this effort through innovative, field-based educational programs for student of all level.

Research

Many scientists from different learning institutions have worked in the Station for over 3 years. As result of their research we all can benefit from the check list shown in this site (links on the left side of the screen) for El Cerro de la Muerte. Including in these lists are several new species and many new geographical limits for known species (i.e. H. picadoi, Buho).
Many species found on the station have been subject of research studies. Including several thesis on endangered species (i.e. orchids).
Among previous visitors of the Station are University of Costa Rica, Universidad Latina, Iowa State University, Organization for Tropical Studies, Escuela Centroamericana de Ganadería, National Institute of Learning, Biodiversity Institute (INBIO), Word Class Program, etc.
