Dance Instructions

Waltzing to Iowa                Couples in circle, 32 bar waltz   
  Doug Schneider, Wee Hoose on the Prairie
1-4    Couples, hands joined in a circle, adv & ret turning toward
       partner to face out of the circle
5-8    Couples adv & ret away from the circle, end facing partner
9-16   RS gypsy w/ partner; turn by RH to finish in NHJ circle, 
       women facing out, men in.
17-24  Balance R, balance L, turn LH half way; balance R, balance L, 
       turn L halfway back to partner
25-32  B-to-B w/partner; pass right shoulders on to the next, 
       turn BH finish facing into the circle w/ new partner, women to the right.

1-8    1M & 2W advance/retire then dance Back- to- Back
9-16   1W & 2M repeat
17-24  1C (slow) cast to 2nd place, dance down between 3C and cast up to 2nd place 
       (2C step up on bars 3-4 of the phrase)
25-32  All 3 couples advance into a circle and retire, then turn by the right hand

Shiftin' Bobbins                32 bar Reel for 3C

1-2    1C cross R H to finish back to back facing 2nd place & join hands as in double 
       triangles, 2nd cpl. move up 1 - 2.
3-4    2C, 1C & 3C set
5-8    1C dance up, give nearer hands & dance down to 2nd place
9-12   1C w/ their corners, dance 3 hands across, RH on mens' side, LH on womens' side
13-16  1C, followed by 2C & 3C meet and dance down (turn towards each other)
17-24  All dance up 3C leading. 3C cast to 3rd place,  2C finish in 1st place 
       facing out & all dance 3 hands across with the other hand. 1C finish facing up.
25-32  1C dance up, cast to opposite side, then dance figure of 8 around 2C 
       finishing progressed.

The Sailor                      32 bar Hornpipe Reel for 3 couples

1-2    1C cross over, 1W to face 2nd & 3rd men, 1M to face 2nd & 3rd women, 
       2C move up immed.
3-4    All set in 3's on the side.
5-8    1W casts up round 2M to finish bet 2C, all facing down, while 1M casts
       down to finish bet 3C, all facing up. They join NH and set.
9-16   Reels of 3 across the dance.  1C turn to the Right and give RS to
       begin. 1C end in 2nd place, opposite side.
17-24  1C lead down for 2 steps, up for 2 steps, cross over at the top, cast
       into 2nd place, own side.
25-32  1C & 2C dance rights and lefts.

Bonnie Stronshiray              32 bar Strathspey for 3C           
  Glasgow Assembly
1-8    1C & 2C turn w/ BH 3/4 to finish in a line up & down the set, then 
       dance a half reel of 4 & turn partner 3/4 to finish on own side, progressed
9-10   1C set adv to each other to finish (B-to-B) facing 1st corners
11-12  Turn 1st corners w/ BH to finish 1W bet 2C facing down, 1M bet 3C facing up
13-16  Repeat 9-12, except 1C turn 2nd corners and finish bet corners
       in 2nd place on opp side
17-18  2C, 1C, 3C cross by RH, 1C ends facing out, 2C & 3C facing in diagonally
19-20  1C cast around person on R, while 2C & 3C adv & ret (one step) diag. 
       1W ends bet 3C all facing up, 1M ends bet 2C all facing down
21-22  All change places by RH (up and down) w/ opposite person,
       finish w/ 1C facing ends of the dance and corners facing in diag.
23-24  Repeat Bars 19-20, ending w/ 1C curving in to face partner's 2nd
       corner position (1C face the person they have been casting round)
25-32  1C and the people they are facing dance 1/2 reel of 4, 1C curve around each
       other by the LS to face partner's 1st corner position,
       dance 1/2 reel of 4 w/ these corners and finish by 1C turning by the RH 
       to end on own side in 2nd place
