Dance Instructions

Waltzing to Iowa
 Couples in a circle  32 Bar Waltz     Schneider, Wee Hoose on the Prairie
1 - 4  Couples, Hands joined in a circle, Adv & Ret. turning toward
       partner to face out of the circle
5 - 8  Couples Adv. & Ret away from the circle, end facing partner
9 -16  RS gypsy w/partner, Turn by RH to finish in NHJ circle, women facing
       out, men in.
17-24  Balance R, Balance L, turn half way, Balance R, Balance L, turn
       halfway back to partner
25-32  B-to-B w/ partner, pass right shoulders on to the next, turn BH-
       finish facing into Circle w/ new partner, women to the right.

Jubilee Jig  
 32 bar Jig for 3C                              RSCDS Leaflets #19
1 - 8  1M cast off to 2nd place(2M steps up) and sets to 3W, 
       then they turn by the right
9 -16  1W repeats to 3M but turns by the left hand
17-24  Dance Right hands across, 1W w/ 2C and 1M w/3C, 1C meets in the 
       middle w/ left hand and sets then turns out to the opposite side.
25-32  Dance Right hands across, 1M w /2C and 1W w/ 3C, 1C meets in the 
       middle w/ left hand and sets then turns out to own side.

The Old Man of Hoy
 32 Bar Hornpipe for 2C                         Let's All Dance
1-8    1C & 2C set twice with nearer hands joined then dance RH across 
       to finish next to partner W/ 1C facing down & 2C facing up
9-16   1C & 2C set twice then dance RH across once round,
       finish in promenade hold facing up.
17-24  1C & 2C dance the allemande
25-32  2C & 1C dance rights and lefts.

1 - 8  1C cross RH, Cast off (2C step up), Cross LH thru 2nd place,
       Cast lady up man down to finish 1W facing 2M at the top and 1m
       facing 3W in 3rd place. 
9 -16  1W dances Reel of 3 across w/ 2C while 1M dances Reel of 3
       across w/ 3C
17-24  1C NHJ set to 2W, 3M, veer left to set to 3W, then 2M
25-32  Reels of 3 on the sides, 1C giving RS to 2nd corners to start,
       1C cross to own side at end.

Glennfiddich Strathspey

1 - 4  1C & 2C set and cross over, giving right hands finish facing up
       and down on the side
5 - 8  1st & 2nd women and also 1st & 2nd men set to each other and change
       places, men giving right hands, women left hands.
9 -12  1C & 3C dance half figures of eight:  to begin, 1C cross down, 3C
       cast up
13-16  Half reels of three on the sides:  to begin, 1C cross up, 2C dance
       down, 3C dance up and out.  Loop into place at the end
17-20  NHJ all three couples advance (one step) and retire (one step)
       then cross to own sides giving right hands
21-24  Advance and retire again (one step), cross over by the Left hand,
       1C turning to face first corners
25-32  Dance half reels of four with 1st corners then half reels of four
       with 2nd corners, 1C passing by the left shoulder in the middle.
       1st couple finish in 2nd place to begin the dance again.

1 - 8  1C set cross by RH, cast off (2C step up) then turn LH to finish
       facing 1st corners
9 -16  Corner chain with 1st corners:  change places w/1st corners by RH,
       1st corners turn in the middle by LH(1st couple wait in their place), 
       1st corners turn 1C in to middle by RH, 1C turn by the LH to
       finish facing 2nd corners.
17-24  2nd corners Chain 1C finish in 2nd place
25-32  six hands round and back

1 - 4  1C dance in toward each other and Cast off one place
5 - 8  1C & 3C dance RH across
9 -12  1C & 2C dance LH across, 1C finish facing women's side of the dance
13-16  1W (partner following) casts up round 2W & down middle to finish Bet
       3C (1M Bet 2C)
17-24  All dance down the middle and up, 1C stay facing up
25-28  1M (partner following) Casts off to 2nd place, pulling RS back to
       face partner
29-32  1C turn by the RH once round to finish in 2nd place
33-40  2C, 1C & 3C dance 6 hands round and back

1 - 4  1C & 2C circle 4HR to the left to finish 1C NHJ facing down, 
       2C NHJ facing up
5 - 8  1C & 2C set (1C turn to face up on bar 6), then 1C cast to 2nd
       place on 7-8, 2C dance up to face out at the top
9 -16  2C, 1C & 3C dance reels of three on the sides, w/ hands and curling
       into place at the end
17-24  With NHJ on the side, all three couples set, then 1C & 2C turn LH
       3/4 to dance down below 3C , cross over, cast up to finish in 
       original places
25-32  1C & 2C dance the knot

       3C NHJ facing up in 3rd place.
25-32  All set, all circle to the left for 3 bars then into center on bar
       30, pulling right shoulder back to spiral out to progressed place
       (clockwise)

25-30  2C and 1C dance LH across, 1C retaining hold of LH to dance a
       half turn to finish progressed
31-32  2C, 1C and 3C set on the side

Red House Reel   
 8x40 Reel for 2C                               RSCDS book 7
1 - 8  1C set and cast to below 2C, then 1C set and cast back to place.
9 -16  1M casts off around 2M (partner following) and dances up between 2C,
       then down behind 2W and across to the men's side below 2nd place, 
       1st woman following.  Both pull right shoulder back ready for
       woman to lead chase
17-24  Chase is repeated back to original places
25-32  1M & 2M face ready to pass left shoulders, 1w dances down below 2M
       to enter the reel of three on the men's side.  1W returns to
       place  on 7-8 and men pass left shoulders to progress 
      (2M finishes in 1M's place, 1M finishes in 2M's place)
33-40  1W & 2W face on the side to pass right shoulders into a reel of 3 on
       the side with 1M entering the reel below 2W's place.  1M returns to 2nd
       place on 7-8 while 1W & 2W continue to change places to end progressed.

Cherrybank Gardens                             
 32 Strathspey for 3C - SET                     Drewry/Canadian
1 - 4  1C & 2C set on the sides, then petronella in tandem to finish 
       facing up and down
5 - 8  1W w/ 2W& 1M w/ 2M NHJ set facing up/down then petronella in
       tandem to opp side.
9 -12  2C & 1C NHJ set on the side then 2C cross over RH/1C cross over LH
13-16  1W dance RH across with 2C while 1M dances RH across w/ 3C.
       1C finish in 2nd place
17-20  1C & 3C NHJ, set and link to change places
21-24  3C & 1C dance four hands round to the left to finish w/ 3C facing
       down/ 1C facing up
25-32  2C, 3C & 1C dance a grand chain.
       Repeat twice more from new positions.

Mrs. Stewart's Jig

1 - 8  1C set, then 1W (followed by her partner) casts off.  She crosses
       the set below 3C, dances up behind 3M to finish facing down in 
       2M's place; 1M follows but dances up the middle of the set to
       finish facing down in 2W place,  2C step up on 7-8
9 -16  2C, 1C & 3C dance Grand Chain. 2M & 1M finish facing out for
17-24  2C & 1C dance ladies' Chain
25-32  2C, 1C & 3C advance & retire, 1C turn 1 1/2 times to 2nd place on
       own side

Adieu Mon Ami

         sex to end facing them while 3M and 3W dance the same pattern
         around 4C
37 - 40  1C set to 2C and turn them by RH while 3C set to 4 C and turn 
         them by RH
41 - 48  Reels of 4 across the set
48 - 56  1C & 3C dance figure of eight around 2C & 4C
57 - 64  1C & 3C dance LH across, dance out of the set the way they came in
         and chase back to place.
65 - 96  2C & 4C repeat 33-64 with 1C and 3C
97 -104  All four couples Promenade to the Right(anti clockwise)
105-120  Men's solo repeat of women's but w/ LH across
121-128  Eight hands round to the right and back.

1 - 8  2C turn 1C into double triangles formation, all set, then 1C turn 3C
       into dble triangles formation and all set
9 -16  1C followed by 3C dance up, cast off to 3rd place then cast off to
       2nd place, 3C finish by curling into 3rd place.
17-24  1C turn 1st corners by the RH, pass Right shoulders, turn 2nd 
       corners by the RH, pass Right shoulders to 2nd place,
25-32  2C, 1C & 3C dance 6 Hands round and back
