Dance Instructions
Waltzing to Iowa Waltz 32 1C Circle
Wee Hoose on the Prairie
1 - 8 All couples (W on the R of her Partner) in one big circe, face
center, nearer hands joined; ADV for 2, RET for 2; turn towards
partner to face out; ADV for 2 (away from center), RET for 2; turn to
face partner.
9 -16 'GYPSY' with partner (dance round each other back to place,
maintaining eye contact, but no hands); TURN by the R back to place;
17-20 Retain partner's R hand, join L hands with neighbor (one big
circle, M facing in, W facing out); everyone BALANCE R, and BALANCE
L. 1/2 TURN with neighbor by the L.
21-24 Retain neighbor's L hand, join R hands with new neighbor: one big
circle, M facing out, W in. BALANCE R and L. 1/2 TURN with neighbor
by the L, to face partner;
25-32 Dance BACK-TO-BACK with partner; pass partner by the R and TURN
new partner with B hands to face center of circle, nearer hands joined.
Kelso Races Jig 8x32 3C
MMM II
1 - 8 1M, 2W ADV & RET; dance BACK-TO-BACK.
9 -16 1W, 2M REPEAT.
17-24 1C CAST OFF 1 place, dance down between 3C, CAST UP into 2nd place.
25-32 2, 1, 3C, make a wide circle and ADV & RET; all TURN partners by
R back to places.
The Silver Tassie Strathspey 8x32 3C
Leaflet#1
1 - 8 1C, 2C, 3C CROSS by the R, SET; REPEAT back to places.
9 -16 1C, 3C dance DOUBLE FIGURE 8 round 2C (1C cross down, 3C cast
up, to begin).
17-24 1C, followed by 2C, 3C, LEAD DOWN the middle, 1C turn and lead
up, dancing between 2C, 3C, who drop hands and meet below 1C.
25-32 1C, 2C, RONDEL.
Ferla Mor Reel 8x32 3C
J Drewry, Deeside 1
1 - 8 1C set and half turn by R to face eachother in 2nd place in
middle of dance; set and turn by R to face 2M, 1M behind his partner.
9-16 R shoulder reel of three with their 1st corners. At the end face
3M.
17-24 R shoulder Reel of 3 with 2nd corners. On bars 7,8 1W pulls her
L shoulder back to face her partner, turn by L to face 1st corners.
25-32 Turn 1st C by R, pass R shoulders, turn 2nd corners by R, pass R
shoulders to own side in 2nd place.
Bees of Maggieknockater Jig 4x32 4C

1 - 8 1C cross by R, cast to 2nd place; dance Rhx with 3C.
9 -16 Reels of 3 on the side:
1M, 3W on W's side and 1W, 3M on M's side, pass R shoulders,
dance half Reels of 3 on the side. Bar 12, change partners.
1C on M's side, 3C on W's side, pass L shoulder, dance
half reels. Change partners, bar 16.
17-24 Continue Reels of 3 on the side:
1M, 3W on M's side and 1W, 3M on W's side, pass R shoulders, dance
half Reels of 3 on the side. Bar 20, change partners.
1C on W's side, 3C on M's side, pass L shoulders, dance half reels.
25-32 1M turn 3W by L, 1W turn 3M by R 1-1/2 times to leave them in 2nd

finish, 1W btw 2 & 3M, 1M btw 2 & 3W.
13-16 All set twice.
17-24 Dance 6 hands round and back.
25-32 Dance 6 bar reels on the side, 1W passing R shoulder with 2M, 1M
passing R shoulder with 2W, to begin. 1C cross over , by the R, to own

1 - 8 1C dance in, then CAST off to 2nd place; 1C, 3C RHx.
9 -16 2C, 1C dance LHx; 1W, 1M following, CAST up round 2W, DANCE
down the middle to finish btw 3C, 1M btw 2C. All face down.
17-24 All DANCE down the middle, turn R about, DANCE up. 1C remain
facing up.
25-32 1M, 1W following, CAST round 2W to 2nd place and to his own
side; pull R shoulder back to face partner, 1C TURN by the R to finish
in 2nd place on own sides.
33-40 6 HANDS ROUND AND BACK.

1 - 8 1C & 2C dance 4 hands round and back.
9 -16 1C & 2C dance R hands X and back with L.
17-24 1C lead down the middle and back.

Glasgow Assembly
1 - 8 1st & 2nd C turn partner 3/4 with B hands to finish in a line
up and down the middle. Dance a half reel of 4, ending by turning
partner to finish on own sides of the dance in progressed position.
9 -10 1C set advancing to finish facing 1st corners.
11-12 Turn 1st corners with B hands to finish 1W btw 2C facing down, 1M
btw 3C facing up.
13-16 Repeat 9-12, with 2nd corners, finishing btw corners.
17-18 2nd, 1st & 3rd C cross by the R, 1st C end facing out, 2nd & 3rd
C face in diagonally.
19-20 1C cast around person on right WHILE 2C & 3C adv & ret one step
diagonally. 1W ends between 3C all facing up, 1M between 2C all facing
down.
21-22 All change places by the right with opposite person. 1C face the
ends of dance, 2C & 3C face in diagonally.
23-24 Repeat 19-20, ending with 1C facing PARTNER'S 2nd corner POSITIONS.
25-32 1C dance half reel of 4, passing by L. Facing partner's 1st
corner position, dance half reel of 4 and turn by R to 2nd place on own
side of dance.
Quarries' Jig Jig 8x32 3C
Book 36
1 - 4 1C set and cast off one place. 2C step up, bars 3-4.
5 - 8 1C dance round 1st C, passing them by L shoulder; finish in 2nd
place on opposite sides of dance.
9 -16 1M with 2C (give L shoulder to 2M), 1W with 3C (give L shoulder
to 3W), dance R of 3 across the dance. 2C & 3C dance 8 bar reels. 1C
turn by L hand on bars 7-8 to face 1st corners.
17-18 1C change places with 1st C by the R; 2nd C set.
19-20 1st C change places giving L hands; other dancers dance
clockwise round set to next corner position.
21-24 Repeat bars 17-20 from new positions.
25-28 Repeat bars 17-20 from new positions. On bars 27-28 1C (now in
middle) turn by L hand to 2nd place on opposite side.
29-32 2C, 1C, 3C set on the sides. 1C cross by the R to own sides.

1 - 8 1C and 2C all round poussette.
9 -16 1C dance down the middle for 2 steps, turn BH; dance up the
middle for 2 steps, turn BH to end facing up.
17-24 1C and 3C dance double fig of 8 round standing 2C. To begin, 1C
cast off, 3C cross up. 1C end in original places, facing out.
25-28 1 & 2W, turn RH 1-1/2 times while 1 & 2M turn LH.
29-32 1 & 3W LH 1-1/2 times while 1 & 3M turn RH.
The Whistling Wind Reel 8x32 3C

1 - 8 1C set and cast (4 bars) to 2nd place (2C step up, 5-6); 1C
set to each other, to finish facing 1st corners.
9 -16 1C dance 1/2 R of 4 with 1st corners; pass by R to face 2nd
corners. 1C dance 1/2 R of 4 with 2nd corners. Finish back to
back in middle, 1M facing up, 1W facing down.
17-24 3,1,2,C dance double triangles. 1C finish in 2nd place on own sides.

around the set, curving in to end back to back in the middle of the
set, while 2C and 4C repeat bars 1-4 and end facing 1C and 3C in lines
of 4 across the set
9 -16 REELS of 4 ACROSS the set
17-20 2C with 1C, and 3C with 4C, dance 4 HANDS AROUND
21-24 All SET and dance RH ACROSS 1/2 way
25-28 2C and 4C (in the center) dance LH ACROSS
29-32 2C passing 1C, and 4C passing 3C, dance out passing RS with their
opposites, TURN to R and DANCE 1/4 of the way around the set to new
positions
