Station molds

The bow spar. The bow spar is two pieces of luan, clamped together for now. It fits into station molds #9, #8, and #7, and will be a part of the finished boat. Before strip construction began, I fully intended to epoxy-resin sandwich a peice of glass clotth between the 1/4-inch sets of bow and stern halves. As I worked with them, I realized that the spars would be fine simply laminated with wood glue. I then bored-out about 1/3 of the material in them with a Forstner bit, further reducing the weight of the bow and stern spars from little to next to nothing. Once their edges are chamferred to receive the internal shear strips, and then the softwood strips, the spars will become an integral part of the boat.
