More Hatch Construction

Hatch lip detail. It is really
taking shape now. Note that scraps of 2-inch glass cloth are used as bridge reinforcements
between the seams.

More hatch lip detail. Here
is what the flange looks like after all gaps and void spaces have been filled with
thickened resin, and all exposed wood surfaces have been sealed (clear-coated) with
resin,.

The front hatch in place. The
hatch is still a little drab since it was sanded and still needs to be re-clear-coated
with resin. There is no seal in place and the hatch is sitting on the flange. Once
the rubber seal is in place the hatch will set about 1/8-inch proud of the deck.
After the deck hardware and other hatch fittings are in place, cinching the hatch
down will snug it down and into place for a nice water-tight seal. Note: the lines
and shapes in this photo are somewhat distorted by the camera lens, the photo is
of the front hatch, taken from the bow, looking back toward the coaming.
