DNA Origami: It is a popular subset of DNA Nanotechnology. It is a tool to design and construct two- and three-dimensional nanostructures using DNA as the building material. However, it has its limitations in terms of the size and complexity of such nanostructures. We, in our lab, are investigating alternative and easier techniques of building nanostructures that address these limitations.
DNA Computation: We work closely with our Computer Science friends to investigate the computational aspect of DNA Nanotechnology such as creating probabilistic models of DNA Origami construction and reactions. I would also like to study the structural biology side of DNA nanostructures and create useful computational tools to visualize and simulate them.
