Objectives

The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with an opportunity to

  • Develop your understanding of web communication,

  • Enhance your ability to communicate in electronic medium,

  • Ensure your ability to create publishable pages for the WWW, and

  • Create a working, online source for you to market yourself to prospective employers.

 

 

Description

You will need to create a personal web page and post it on your ISU web space (or other location per instructor approval) for me to see.  Your web page should contain the following elements.

  • Demonstration of your understanding of web design including font, colors, white space and images,
  • Links to at least one "on site" page and two "off site" pages, and
  • Creativity.

Your web page must be loaded onto the WWW--files sent to me will not be accepted.

Your grade on this page will be based on the following criteria:

  Excellent display of design and content that is appealing as well as effective. Appropriate content and design but missing some elements of audience/purpose analysis. Contains most required content but has non-working links or design elements that do not follow standards per assignment standards. Broken links, design flaws (based on assignment standards).
Application 9-10 points 6-8 points 3-5 points 0-2
  Creative and effective design elements and good decisions on appropriate links. Meets requirements for design and links but lacks appropriate decision-making qualities. Meets some or most of assignment requirements for design and links. Missing or non-working links and/0r inappropriate design elements.
Mechanics 9-10 points 6-8 points 4-5 points 0-3 points
No punctuation or grammar errors.. 1 punctuation or grammar errors. 2 punctuation or grammar errors. 3 or more grammar errors.
Creativity & Prep. 5 points 4 points 3 points 1-2 point
Demonstrates creativity and forethought.  No typos or editing errors. Demonstrates some creativity and no editing errors. Demonstrates some creativity and one editing error. Demonstrates little or no creativity and contains 2 or more editing errors.
