Causal Project

Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to

  • Demonstrate your ability to use critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrate your ability to write an essay using the discussed conventions of essay writing
  • Demonstrate your ability to research and create an effective oral or visual causal argument
  • Demonstrate your ability to write an effective argument based on the elements discussed in class
  • Demonstrate your ability to create a correctly formatted and informative bibliography.

Tasks

Create a Causal Argument using methods other than writing an essay.  Use ideas gathered from our Argument Exercise for visual or "other" ways to create an argument effectively.

All elements of your argument must be created by YOU (no photos or videos created by other people unless you adjust the product by at least 50% to portray your message).

You must use at least two outside sources to research and support your argument.  These sources may, or may not, be visible in your project; however, you will need to create a bibliography to accompany your project.

Requirements

In order to receive full credit for your submission, you must have

·         All of the above tasks completed according to class discussions on Causal Arguments.

·         Submitted the project in class as a presentation or online on your web page.

·         A correctly formatted bibliography.

·         Edited your project for all punctuation and grammar errors--as well as typos and other editing issues.

Evaluation

Evaluation of your essay will be assessed using the following rubric:

50%   Content

20%   Clear Message and Causal relationship

20%  Application of Course Materials

To sell your ideas to your peers, to your management, to your customers, you must, and I stress MUST, be able to communicate.  One of the reasons Sir Isaac Newton was famous in physics was because he could communicate.
