The WWW checks have been coming in a few at a time! Thank you to those who have already paid - we have about half of them in as of today! The rest of you have until October 15th (which is next Friday), so try to get them in soon. Our new online submission method is working great, so if you have a digital camera or a scanner, PLEASE send us your images for strategies! It is simple, and saves you from having to send us year-end slides! Call or email the clearinghouse if you have any questions. We'd love to help you out!

As I get ready to leave for the big AEI Fall Conference, I thought I'd write down a few notes from the week. First of all, the 2nd year graduate NAB students will be giving a presentation at the conference on Friday at 2:00-2:50pm. Their session is called "The Spirit of Creating in Community," and it should be a good one! Looking over the schedule, I see a number of other NAB personalities that will also be presenting. Pat Grubb, Susan Baer, Tempest Kuykendall, Tami Rondeau, Joel Franken and Chris Noel are all scheduled to appear. I'm sure they would all appreciate a few familiar faces in the audience, so check out what they have to offer! In other news, the newsletter went out on Tuesday, and it should be arriving shortly. I encourage you to read through it completely...I guarantee that there is a lot of good information and a lot of new faces!

Well, it appears as though the world has not been thrown into chaos, even with the abundance of 9's in today's date. So I think it is safe to say that you will have to pay those annual WWW bills again this year afterall! You should all have received your bills at your school address by now. We got your address off of the information you have provided on the database, so if that is not up-to-date, let us know or you may never get your bill! The $25 will be due at the Clearinghouse this year by October 15, so please don't set it on the back burner...send it in while it is still fresh in your mind...we will be extremely appreciative!

We are putting together the Fall Newsletter at the moment, so if you have anything you like included or mentioned, email me at lsteele@iastate.edu, and we will see what we can do about getting it in. Please read over your newsletter carefully when it arrives late next week...there will be many important improvements, reminders, and announcements that will be important to you!

Welcome back! We are "enjoying" our first day back to school at ISU, which means the Clearinghouse is almost running at full speed again. Laura Steele will be the Clearinghouse Coordinator and Webmaster, so feel free to email her at lsteele@iastate.edu with any questions, comments, and suggestions! Be looking in your mailbox in September for our fall newsletter containing new staff, students, clearinghouse hours, and NAB improvements. The good ol' $25 WWW bills will also be on their way soon...so you can be looking look forward to that! We encourage you to take a look at the database and use it throughout the year. It has many new strategies from this summer's ArtEd 513 class and a new way to submit visuals online, as well as over 2000 "classic" strategies that you can use in your classroom. Let us know if there is anything else that you would like to see added to the NAB program. We are always looking for better ways to meet the needs of the teacher/researchers! You can contact the clearinghouse at 515-294-3448 or by email, nabch@iastate.edu. Have a great semester!

Clearinghouse Personnel

WWW/Clearinghouse Coordinator: Laura Steele (lsteele@iastate.edu)

Laura will be in 311 Design throughout the semester, both as a student and a graduate assistant. She has taken over Karen's position as Clearinghouse Coordinator, in addition to her duties as the WWW/Computer Coordinator. Let her know if you have any questions or need anything. She can at least point you in the right direction!

Visual Materials Coordinator: Ted Cochran (cochran@iastate.edu)

Ted is an undergraduate assistant who has taken over Chris's job as VMC. He will be helping to further organize and digitize the NAB visual collection of slides, creative components, etc. With the new system of online image submission which we will introduce you to in the Fall Newsletter, you can make his job much less complicated by sending us your images digitally. Until then (and beyond), Ted will be here day after day scanning, sorting, deciphering, labeling, and working with other Clearinghouse Tasks.

Please feel free to contact either of us, and we will do our best to help you out!
