ArtEd 513 Begins!

February 2, 2000
The online ArtEd 513 class has officially begun, so you will be seeing some new names and faces on the database as students begin coursework. A reminder to you teachers in the field, if you know anyone who might be interested in getting 3 graduate credits or 7.5 CEU credits, please have them contact us. We would love to some more people be trained as NAB teachers. For those of you who are students in the course, we're glad to have you aboard! Let us know if you have any questions or comments at: nabch@iastate.edu.

For those of you looking for the student teacher evaluation form, we now have one posted here. Simply copy the text (and ONLY the text) and paste it into a word-processing document such as Microsoft Word or Appleworks. You will then be able to type in the information requested.

By now we have all returned to the school routine, and the NAB Clearinghouse is again fully operational! We have added a new graduate assistant to the staff, Cyndi Newman. Cyndi is in her first year of the art education program and will be taking over some of Laura's duties in the Clearinghouse this semester. Laura will be shifting some of her attention to being the TA of the ArtEd 513 course that will be offered online beginning in February and ending in August. Please let your friends and colleagues know about this opportunity for them to be trained as NAB teachers! Let us know at nabch@iastate.edu if there is anyone you think would be interested in taking the online course this spring and/or summer! All of the information needed to register for the course or find out more about it can be found at: course.html. Check it out!

Clearinghouse Personnel

WWW/Clearinghouse Coordinator: Laura Steele (lsteele@iastate.edu)

Laura will be in 311 Design throughout the semester, both as a student and a graduate assistant. She will be spending half of her time as the teaching assistant for the online ArtEd 513 course which began on Feb.1. She will also be maintaining her duties as WWW coordinator, and will still be helping out with the regular clearinghouse resposibilities.

Clearinghouse Assistant: Cyndi Newman (costrand@iastate.edu)

Cyndi, a graduate student in art education, has joined the Clearinghouse staff this spring and will be doing some major organization and record-keeping, including creating a master list of all of the strategies on the database. She will also be helping to take over some of Laura's duties since Laura will be the TA for 513.

Visual Materials Coordinator: Ted Cochran (cochran@iastate.edu)

Ted is an undergraduate assistant who has taken over Chris's job as VMC. He will be helping to further organize and digitize the NAB visual collection of slides, creative components, etc. With the new system of online image submission which we will introduce you to in the Fall Newsletter, you can make his job much less complicated by sending us your images digitally. Until then (and beyond), Ted will be here day after day scanning, sorting, deciphering, labeling, and working with other Clearinghouse Tasks.

Please feel free to contact either of us, and we will do our best to help you out!
