Therese N. Warburton Art and Design Scholarships:

Two to Three $1,500 scholarships available, awarded to a sophomore or junior or senior (who will not graduate prior to May 1998) art and design student. A student receiving the scholarship must have been a major in the department for at least two semest ers, be making satisfactory progress toward a degree and have at least a 3.4 GPA. These scholarships will be announced this semester and awarded in two tuition installments toward fall 1997 and spring 1998.


Janice Peterson Anderson Art and Design Scholarship:

One $500 scholarship awarded to a sophomore or junior or senior art and design student who has been a major in the department for two semesters, is making satisfactory progress toward a degree and has at least a 3.0 GPA. Scholarship will be announced thi s semester and awarded as fall 1997 tuition payment or divided and awarded in two tuition installments fall 1997/spring 1998.


Elizabeth Kirk Memorial Award:

One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a full time junior art and design student who has been at Iowa State University at least two semesters and has at least a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship will be announced this semester and awarded in two tuition installments t oward fall 1997/spring 1998.


Art and Design Excellence Scholarship:

A minimum of three $750 scholarships awarded to freshman, sophomore, junior or senior (who will not graduate prior to December 1997) students who have been majors in the department for at least one semester, are making satisfactory progress toward a degre e and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Scholarships will be announced this semester and awarded as fall 1997 or fall/spring 1997-98 tuition payment.



Marjorie S. Garfield Fine Arts Scholarship:

One $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student in the art and design BFA curriculum (craft design concentration or drawing/painting/printmaking concentration or visual studies concentration). This scholarship is based dominantly on portfolio review of studi o work. The scholarship will be announced this semester and awarded toward fall 1997 and spring 1998 tuition payment; therefore the student must not graduate prior to May 1998.


Diane Cone Boody Fine Arts Schoalrship:

One $600 scholarship awarded to a sophomore or junior or senior student in the art and design BFA curriculum (craft design concentration or drawing/painting/printmaking concentration or visual studies concentration). This scholarship is based dominantly on portfolio review of studio work. The scholarship will be announced this semester and awarded toward fall 1997 or fall/spring 1997-98 tuition payment.


Art and Design Excellence Scholarships for Minority Students:

One or more $500 to $1,000 scholarship(s) awarded to freshman, sophomore, junior or senior art and design student(s) of African-American or Hispanic American or Native American descent who has (have) been in the department for at least one semester, is ( are) making satisfactory progress toward a degree and show financial need. This scholarship is based dominantly on portfolio review of studio work. Scholarship(s) will be announced this semester at the Minority Student Awards Banquet as well as on Colle ge Awards Day (April 16, 1997). Funds are awarded toward fall 1997 or fall/spring 1997-98 tuition payment.



Mary S. Pickett Interior Design Scholarship:

One $500 scholarship awarded to a student of junior or senior classification, enrolled in Interior Design Program, completing their internship during the forthcoming summer, completed 30 semester hours, 3.3 College of Design GPA, at least 20 semester hou rs to be completed after the internship.


Daniel J. Kiser Interior Design Scholarship:

Two $500 scholarships awarded to a student of junior or senior classification, enrolled in Interior Design Program, completing their internship during the forthcoming summer, completed 30 semester hours, 3.3 College of Design GPA, at least 20 semester ho urs to be completed after the internship.


Lori Beard Interior Design Scholarship:

One $300 scholarship awarded to a student of junior or senior classification, enrolled in Interior Design Program, completing their internship during the forthcoming summer, completed 30 semester hours, 3.3 College of Design GPA, at least 20 semester hou rs to be completed after the internship.


Beresford/Seeds Scholarship:

One $3000 ($12,000 per student for the 4 year period) scholarship awarded to an entering freshman, based on a portfolio review of high school work, must maintain GPA 3.0, carry 12 semester credits; renewed for three years.


Valorie Kohnen Painting Awards:

Two or three awards of up to $1,500 for graduate students and one $500 award for senior painting major about to graduate with BFA. Awarded to one or more graduate students with an MA concentration in Drawing/Painting/Printmaking and one senior undergrad uate student planning to attend graduate school to receive a MFA in painting.


Robert J. Hryomyak Printmaking Award:

One awards of up to $100-150. Awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student based on outstanding printmaking studio performance.


Dresser/McClain Art History Scholarship:

One semester of in-state tuition. Awarded to a student of junior or senior classification for outstanding performance in art history courses.


Graphic Design Sophomore Scholarship:

One $600 scholarship. Awarded to sophomore student in graphic design based on portfolio review, academic achievement and character.


Lane Wells and George Catt Scholarships:

One $500 scholarship. This is a college-wide competition. The recipient must have two semesters left in course work, a cumulative GPA 2.5, a financial need, and character.


Clair B. Watson Award:

One $1000 scholarship, renewable based on department funding. This scholarship is awarded to an incoming College of Design freshman based on ACT score, class rank and personal essay.
