Attendance: Attending all class periods and exams is your responsibility. Although attendance is not directly part of your grade, it is vital in your overall progress. Students may be asked to present problems from the in-class worksheet.
Homework: The daily worksheets in this course will be considered your homework. Anything not finished in the time allowed during class with your group is your responsibility.
Quizzes: There will be a weekly quiz taking place on Friday unless otherwise specified by the instructor at the beginning of the week.
Tests: There will be four exams. They will each count as 100 points toward your grade.
Calculators: No calculators will be used during this course.
Electronic Devices: No cell phones, beepers, pagers, Personal digital assistants (PDAs), etc. during any class meeting. Possession or use of a wireless device during an exam will result in a zero for that test grade. Do not bring them to a test, and turn them off during all class meetings.
Make-up Policy: There will be no make-up quizzes or exams. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please meet with me well before the date of the quiz/exam. In the instance of a family emergency, prompt notification and documentation of the event is expected.
Help Room: The Mathematics Department has available a help room that is free to all students. The help room is in Carver 385 with hours posted on the door. Someone is almost always there to help during regular business hours.
Disability Information: If you have a disability and require accommodations, please contact the instructor early in the semester so that your learning needs may be appropriately met. You will need to provide documentation of your disability to the Disability Resources (DR) office, located on the main floor of the Student Services Building, Room 1076, 515-294-6624
Academic Dishonesty: As stated by the university policy, "the academic work of all students must comply with all university policies on academic honesty. Examples of academic misconduct are attempting to use unauthorized information in the taking of an exam, submitting as one's own work prepared by another person, knowingly assisting another student in obtaining or using unauthorized materials, or plagiarism."
