My name is Dane Miller. I am
a Senior studying Agricultural Systems Technology with a focus on Mechanical
Systems and Precision Ag at Iowa State
University.
The courses I am taking my last semester (in Spring 2008)
are:
CRP 270, Music 102, TSM 337 - Hydraulics, MIS 330 - Intro to Information
Systems, and TSM 399 - Internship Reflection/Assessment. I originally created
this Web page for my AST 203 class.
I grew up on a farm outside of the small town of Bristow,
Iowa. I attended high school at Greene, played football
as a running back and ran the 400 low hurdles in track for the Rams. Our
football team made it to State in 2002, and I made it to State in track for the
4x800 relay in 2003 and for the 400 low hurdles in 2004. I designed my two
class T-shirts and the Homecoming flats for all four years. I was also active
in band, High School Student Council, 4-H, Luther League, and the Library Teen
Board.
Following high school, I attended Iowa State University and
majored in Ag Systems Technology. Through my college years, I have worked for
ISU Dining service, ISU ITS, ISU Rec. Intramurals, the Iowa State Center, and
the College as a Peer
Mentor. I have been a member of the AST Club, announced the kiddie tractor
pull at VEISHEA, helped with Lawnmower Service Days and Snowblower Servive
Days, and visited the CBOT on a club trip.
I enjoy solving problems and working with new innovative
projects. I want to work in either of two main areas of Agriculture: Machines -
Product Engineering, specialization, or Evaluation, and Precision Ag - Product
Specialization, Applications, or Research. I am currently working with ISU Information Technology
Services at the Communications Building where I work as the Lead Night
Service to answer trouble calls and do projection jobs in the evening. I am
also continuing to work part time with Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. in Johnston, Iowa where
I just completed a seven month internship in a newly expanding Precision Ag
area.
On July 7, 2007, I married my best friend, and now my
beautiful bride, Brooke Elizabeth. We are currently living in Ames, Iowa and
finishing our last semesters at ISU.
