Eubonicode

This was a final project that Brian Bosse, Matt Poush, and I did for our compiler construction class at Drake University. The Drake neighborhood was hit hard by the great crack epidemic culminating in the 1992 Drake Diner shootings. Crack addicts had mostly turned to meth so gang activity had subsided in 2000. However, most in the neighborhood did not own their own property and the area was still in disrepair. Regardless of ethnicity many local youth spoke a dialect similar to what was popularly known at the time as Ebonics. Many of our education major friends had done student teaching at the local high schools, and were appalled that many bright students from the neighborhood were not taking advanced science and math classes. We came up a colloquial programming language to remediate the problem. Our implementation is was way over the top, but we wanted to drive home the point that programming language design for introductory courses need not be dull.
