I am Assistant Dean in the Graduate College and a Professor in Physics and Astronomy Dept at ISU.

My background is that I was born and raised in New Zealand, completed my undergraduate degree at University of Canterbury, NZ where one of favorite memories was holding Rutherford's Nobel Prize medal before it was locked away in a safe. I completed my PhD at University of Birmingham, UK and have worked at MSU (Michigan), GSI (Germany), and MIT (Cambridge) .

I am very happy to talk to anyone about any of these places!

More details on my professional background can be found in my CV (pdf summer 2014), while my current list of publications can be found via Inspire.

On a more personal level, I have run eight marathons with a PR of 3 hours and 40 min. A highlightwas the New York City marathon: an amazing experience. I currently coach soccer and am an avid fan of cricket. I played cricket for both Canterbury and Birmingham university teams as a student athlete, and in my now-distant youth represented New Zealand in the U19 cricket team.
