Our Laue-Camera setup. OK, I agree it is not the most self-explaining picture I have ever seen. Anyways, on the right, with the red and yellow x-ray sticker on it, is the x-ray tube. Connected to the tube is a little shutter unit that essentially moves a piece of lead in and out of the beam so you don't have to shut down the whole system in order to align something. To the left of it, the black thing is the film cassette. It uses #55 Polariod x-ray film to record the actual Laue picture. The sample is mounted in front of the film cassette.

A calculated Laue picture for a SmMn2Ge2 single crystal. The crystal is body-centered tetragonal (space group I4/mmm). The plane of the picture is perpendicular to the [100] axis of the sample with the [001] axis pointing up.
