Two new faculty positions have been created to enhance the undergraduate international perspective requirement. A protozoologist will be hired in Veterinary Medicine to develop an academic program in global parasitology. Business will hire a new faculty member to coordinate international business efforts within the college and teach international business courses. The Study Abroad Center held its annual International Opportunities Fair in the Memorial Union Sept. 22. Over 50 exhibitors from off and on campus helped more than 500 students learn how to incorporate an experience abroad into their degree program. "Unity in Diversity" was the theme for International Week 1997, held Nov. 7-14. Each year ISU's International Week promotes global understanding and awareness and enhances friendship among international students, American students and the Ames community. More than 20 international groups participated in different activities with local businesses providing support. The week was sponsored by the International Student Council.
During International Week '97, Siew-Tien Lai was awarded a Kennedy-Nehru
Scholarship for $300 for significant international understanding.
