Rachel Ann Sons
Born: 4-8-1847, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee
Married: James Monroe Wasson,
9-2-1869, Barry County, Missouri
Child: Laura Edith Wasson
Died: 11-4-1912,
Notes: "According to Annadella Paschal, the great (x2) granddaughter of Rachel and James, Rachel was known for her ""Indian"" stories of her grandparents. Some of her grandchildren said she told them lots of animal stories and that her grandparents were Cherokee, and that she had family ""in the mountains"" and in Maryland. Here is Rachel as described in a letter from one of James' aunts, to another aunt, on meeting her at Rachel/James' wedding: ""... as sweet and lovely a young woman as any I ever saw. A real beauty with long shiny raven black straight hair that waved around her pretty face and shoulders when she and James were dancin'. She's got real nice skin and dark sparklin' eyes. She is 'bout little over five feet and is the perfect beauty. James says she rides and hunts good as him. I was glad to be there, Lucy."" "
