Two opportunities to earn extra credit occur in October, in association with the World Food Prize:

Attend this year’s Norman Borlaug Lecture in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union on campus, Monday Oct 13, 8 pm. The speaker is Sir Gordon Conway, an agricultural ecologist, and pioneer of sustainable agriculture in the developing world.  His talk is entitled: “The Global Agricultural Crisis of the 21st Century  More information available online.  5 points Extra Credit (must sign in and write a ½ page typed report about what you learned).

Attend the Iowa Hunger Summit, October 14 in Des Moines.  This day-long free event will be attended by other students from the FSHN department (also for extra credit).  Information is available online.  10 points Extra Credit.  (must sign in and write 1 page typed report about what you learned.
