Food By Design, Food By Choice:
The Architecture, Aesthetics, and Socio-Economics of Food

Interdisciplinary Roundtable
Gallery, Memorial Union
Thursday, April 4
Noon - 1:00 pm
Brown bag

A scholarly interest in food is currently expanding beyond its current disciplinary homes of agriculture, manufacturing, distribution, hospitality and nutrition. New interests are arising within design, planning, landscape, sociology, anthropology, and the histories. Scholarly journals and conferences on food studies are becoming interdisciplinary frontiers for new degrees and specialties. Agricultural development is also shifting boundaries, particularly in different parts of the World, as a more vibrant and eclectic consumer & market grows globally.

This panel will dissect this process, its resonance in public debates, and its complexities in today's health conscious world. The participants will also locate the interdisciplinary connections among Iowa State University's faculty resources to form future research and curricular initiatives.
