19, 2003 So
I'm not doing so good with this whole update thing! I had
such high hopes for this site and I'm just not getting it
done! It's been well over a month since my last update and
so much has happened I'm not sure where to begin! I
guess first off- the Bbq. It was great. The weather
was fantastic- not too hot, not too cold and plenty of
sun. We had about 35 people in attendance and a good time
was had by all. We are already compiling ideas for the
second annual event :) So mark your calendar for the end
of May/beginning of June (tentative- based on weddings next
summer!) Benji
is done with school for the summer and is taking one class at
ISU. He will also be going to help at a church camp for
one week in July. So Buddy and I will be left home
alone. Speaking of Buddy- he is doing great. At his
vet visit earlier this month he was up to a whopping
9.1lbs! He is doing really well- he rarely has accidents
in the house and is all in all just a really good pup. My
parents baby sat him over this last weekend while we were at
Strauss's wedding in MN. He fit right in there and by the
end of the weekend I was afraid my parents weren't going to give
him back! Luckily they did and we are still a happy little
family :)

This
past weekend we tore out the bushes in our front yard and put in
new ones. Hopefully this will look a lot better in the
long run. Right now they're pretty puney and look kinda
silly- but they will grow (Hopefully!!) Buddy is doing
great- he has mastered stairs and is pretty much potty
trained. His bladder is now large enough so he can make it
through the night w/o waking us up to go out- which is great
:)
We
are preparing for the 1st Annual BBQ- which promises to be a
good time. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and all
will go off w/o a hitch.

Today is Buddy's 11
week birthday and his parents are quite proud of his
progress!! He now knows sit, down, rollover, and
beg. And we are working on stay, come and shake. We
think he is quite a smart little guy! We've had him for a
little over two weeks and he has settled into our family quite
well.

After weeks of talking
about it- it has finally happened - we bought a puppy!! He
is a 1/2 cocker spaniel 1/2 poodle mix- they call the mix a
cockapoo. And he's absolutely adorable!! On Saturday
we drove to Cascade to get him (2.25 hr drive) and picked out
our little boy. Not even 20 min out of Cascade he had an
upset tummy and tossed his lunch (twice!) But other than
that, the ride went well! He was born on Feb 5 and weighs
3.7lbs. We went to the vet yesterday and our little boy
checked out ok :) He has been a lot of fun to have around,
although we are looking forward to him being able to sleep
through the night! He wakes up about 4 times a night to go
outside- his little bladder just can't make it the whole
night! Check out his page for pictures of our little cutie

This
past weekend we went to a get together at Jill's new
place. It was a good time and nice to see everyone
again! I also picked up my wedding album! It looks
great! If you ever stop by my place I'll have to show it
to you- the Kroloff's did a wonderful job! I've been
helping a lot lately with the retirement party for mom Laverna-
hopefully that will go really well- mom deserves it! No
new news on the dog search. I am getting really antsy and
Benji is really sick of hearing me whine about wanting a
dog!! I think the dream of finding a pup at the pound is
about to end and we will just buy one from the paper. If
the pound doesn't come through by the middle of April we will
start to look elsewhere.
We
are starting to plan the Deal's First Annual Backyard BBQ.
It is looking like the date will be May 31st. It will be
an late afternoon to evening shindig with grilling, beer, fun
and much much more. We've had some interest expressed for
a T-shirt sign up... more to come on that later. I've been
working on a invitation design- so you should hear more
soon!! For now just clear your calendar for May 31.
You won't want to miss it!! (BTW- if you have any other
ideas for a name for our 1st annual event- please feel free to
let us know- the person who comes up with the winning name will
receive a complimentary T-shirt :-)

Where is
spring?? Just when you think the weather will stay nice we
get 4-8 inches of snow. Oh the joys of life in Iowa.
We went down to Des Moines on Saturday and hung out with the
VanHorn's. We brought their small dog kennel back up with
us so we are that much closer to being dog owners. Now all
we need is a dog!! (I already bought a leash and
collar...)

Here we go again!
Much like Bride's Journal I suppose this page will just be me
spouting off about my random happenings. I'd like to get
Benji involved and then we could each have our own page, but I
doubt that'll ever happen...he isn't much for doing web pages!
So it may just end up being me! Not too much going on for
us right now. We painted 3 rooms in our house over
Christmas break and are planning on getting a puppy this spring.
Don't know what kind it will be yet- I definitely want a small
dog and he just doesn't want a poofy 'girly' dog. So that
means no bichon for me :( We may get a beagle or a
terrier... we think we will get one from the pound (Benji is
really into 'rescuing' a dog) so a lot of it will depend on what
is available. Benji is taking 2 classes for his Master's
in Educational Administration so he is staying really busy.
I think I may take a class (for credit this time) in the summer
or fall. I find myself bored a lot (especially with Benj
at class) so I think a challenge will be good for me.
