FY2009 Mid-Year Reduction to State Appropriations
Unit administrators are currently developing plans for addressing the
mid-year budget reductions that are required to address the 1.5%
across-the-board reduction in all state appropriations ordered by Governor
Culver in December. Final mid-year budget reduction targets were
communicated on January 6.
As part of these mid-year budget reduction plans, President Geoffroy
announced on December 31 that a set of university leaders will take 5 days
of voluntary furlough between January 1 and June 30. Other university
employees may also volunteer to take days of furlough or leave without pay
through June 30 to help with the mid-year budget reductions. Employees also
have the option of contributing dollars through the ISU Foundation and
request that the contributions be directed back to the university to help
with the mid-year budget reduction. Employees will be asked to submit their
request to participate in either of these options by February 6.
