The Marrakesh International Conference and Workshop on Mathematical Biology will take place in Marrakesh, Morocco, January 3-8, 2008. This conference follows a sequence of meetings (workshops on marine populations dynamics, urban dynamics, schools on delay differential equations, conferences on differential equations and applications) organized in Marrakesh during the last 15 years. During this conference, African researchers working in mathematical biology will meet in the first Assembly of the African Society of Mathematical Biology.

Location

The second largest city in the country, Marrakesh is situated in central Morocco near to the Atlas Mountains. Now a center for international conferences of all kinds, and as such resolutely modern, the city has, at the same time, retained a remarkable local color and atmosphere unique in the country. It is also well situated for excursions either to the desert, the Atlas Mountains and the sea. It is within easy distance (by car, bus, train or plane) from typical towns such as Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Essaouira (ex-Mogador), and Casablanca (where it is possible to visit the new Mosque, the biggest in the world after Mecca). Details will be given in the final announcement.

Local accomodation

The conference will be held at the Faculty of Sciences Semlalia of the University of Marrakesh. Participants will be housed in a four star hotel, which is within walking distance of the University. The fee offered to participants of the conference is 550 DH (55 euros) per day, per person, in a shared double room. This price includes breakfast and a meal. An individual room is a 150 DH per day extra. (DH = Moroccan Dirham, 100 DH = approx.10 euros).
