From Ames: Take Highway 30 West to the 4 way stop in Boone. Continue on Highway 30 for another 3.6 miles.
Then turn left (south) onto rural route R18 (also called L ave.)
After 1.8 miles, turn left (east) onto 240th st.
After 0.5 miles, the entrance to Fick Observatory will be on the right (south).
