General Information about SpCm 212 for Fall 2008

This is a Lecture/Lab Course that meets for 50 minutes 3 times a week on MWF. Some days are Lecture days [they always meet at either 2 or 3 depending on your lab section]. Some days are LAB days [these times vary from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. depending on which Lab you registered for]. Be sure to attend the LECTURE section at either 2 or 3 on the first day of class in August.

If you are in Labs 1-14, you will attend the 2 o'clock lecture on the first day of class and on all lecture days during the semester. We'll help clarify it for you at the first class session.

If you are in Labs 15-29, you will attend the 3 o'clock lecture on the first day of class and on all lecture days during the semester. We'll help clarify it for you at that first session.

Keeping track of the Lecture/LAB schedule will be important, so pay close attention to the syllabus you receive the first day of class.

1) Stephen E. Lucas, The Art of Public Speaking, 9th edition. McGraw-Hill, 2006, with CD-ROM [If you buy a new book you should be sure to get the complete media package which will include an abbreviated audio version of the textbook on CDs! If you buy a used book, make sure it has the student CD-ROM.]
2) Amy R. Slagell, Speech Communication 212 Workbook, 11th edition. Primis, 2008.

**Note that the University Bookstore sells these two books separately or wrapped together; buying the new set wrapped together offers a good discount over buying them new separately--and you'll be sure that you have the media package.

This class will use WebCT Gold. You'll find that you can edit the look of the new My WebCT page, keep your own to-do list and create a list of bookmarks to your favorite websites. You can log in with the log on information you use to check your email on ISU Webmail. This Class will use WebCT Gold. Go check it out.
