• "Voice, Technology, and Student Critiques in the Digital Age"

• Student self-critiques are essential to the learning process. However, due to rapid changes in technology, students find critiques difficult to complete. To protect student and instructor voice in the evaluation process, basic communication courses and communication centers must adapt to a digital environment. Unfortunately, choices concerning technological change are numerous, complex, and costly. Therefore, this panel provides a platform to discuss problems and creative solutions for implementing digital technologies for student critiques from various perspectives.

What else do I need to know about the convention?

• Advice for Program Chairs
  

• Contact session participants as soon as possible to share expectations about time limits.
• Contact the respondent to be sure that he or she has copies of the papers.
• During the sessions
• aim to start sessions on time; introduce panel members and let attendees know the themes/goals of the session
• tactfully enforce the time limits so that each presenter has a chance and so that there is some time for audience participation
• end the session in a timely way so that people can make it to their next commitments
• encourage conversations to continue; you might close by mentioning upcoming programs on related topics (or encourage people to attend the business meeting!)
  
• Those chairing round table sessions are encouraged to think creatively about ways to make the sessions engaging for those in attendance.
• If chairs or visual aid supports are rearranged for your session, be sure to return them to their original positions after your session is over.
  

• Advice for those attending or presenting at  NCA for the first time
  

• If you are on a competitively selected papers panel and you have updated your paper since your submission last February, do make sure your respondent has the most recent copy of your paper by no later than October 1.  Visit NCA's Convention Resources Library for more information about Professionalism at the convention.
