In Fall 2006, I taught a first-year English composition class, which was a learning community focusing on Agriculture studies. The course was directed toward teaching basic writing skills within the discipline through various genres such as narrative, academic, technical. The primary focus of this course was to prepare undergraduate students to write within the academy. In addition, the course incorporated the principles of ISU Comm, more importantly introducing students to and providing practice in Written, Oral, Visual, and Electronic (WOVE) modes of communication.
