I am interested in the use of technology for pedagogical purposes. Listed below are three projects in development and a resource for L2 instructors. Feel free to visit the units and send any comments.

Dreamweaver Tutorials for Composition Instructors is a resource that I have been developing this semester to aid instructors in creating their course websites and in streamlining the development process. The videos are meant to provide tips ranging from basic Dreamweaver help such as setting up sites to creating web templates. The development of these videos is an ongoing process, so look out for more in the future. Feel free to write to me with any Dreamweaver related queries, and I will try my best to respond, and might even make a tutorial video answering the query.

Subject-Verb Agreement Unit is an interactive, multi-modal tutorial that helps L2 learners construct sentences with subject-verb agreement. This unit is also useful for native English speakers. This unit is an activity created for the Writing and Media Help Center at Iowa State to help L2 learners with subject-verb agreement. This unit was developed by four of us, Stephen Resch, Jennifer Veltsos, Yang Li, and me.

Skill Consolidation Activity is a set of reading, listening comprehension exercises created for second language learners of English. The activities incorporate the use of interactive features of websites for computer aided language learning (CALL).

Activities for ESL Students is a great website I found for L2 learners that is supported by the Internet TESL Journal. The website lists quizzes on grammar, vocabulary, and bilingual vocabulary. In addition, quizzes are also available in crossword format at varying levels of difficulty. The site also categorically lists activities created in Flash, JavaScript, and HTML. A useful feature that ESL students could use as a startup or home page is the “Quiz for the Day” or “Slang for the Day,” which is a page provides various ESL tasks th that change everyday. All material on the website is submitted by L2 instructors from various parts of the world.
